I can remember well that it was the closing time of the office and soon I got a fax from one of the retail client whom our marketing team had approached last week and delivered the presentation. I was almost packed with my bag but getting the fax I restarted my computer, turned on the HP printer and fetched it with papers. I clicked on the ‘Print’ button but there was no action. I checked the connection and the plug, everything was in place. It was a panicked moment as I wanted to have those prints very urgently so as to circulate the order to the production and the delivery teams. Apart from I had promised my family to come early so as to join a party at my friend’s home. I went blue with the thought that what to say my boss. I gathered the courage and went into his cabin with a sad face. Looking at my face he guessed that I would be coming for some excuse. He asked with a grueling voice “Yeah! Tell me”. I told the situation of the printer and calmly asked how to get the support. The very next moment he commented “Oh! What you think, am I a fool here? You must have done something wrong with the machine so as to make early to home. Listen I don’t want any excuse, stay here until the task is finished, and, get lost now.
I was repenting on my mistake of telling the truth. I searched on the Internet for “Phone number for HP support” and opened some links. I was looking for a phone number for getting support for my HP printer. I got a page where it was mention “We are providing online support via phone”. I browsed the page and luckily got a number. I dialed the number and was soon entertained by a technician. He took some details and instructed me to reinstall the HP printer driver on the computer. I did the same and then he told me to just restart your system after the call and everything will be fine.
After sometime I restarted the machine and took the print-outs which I needed. I went to the boss cabin again and handed over those. He was staring at me. I said “Good bye” and was about to leave. Just then he called me and said he is sorry to be harsh with his words. I left the office around 7 PM and went home, but I was satisfied that I was able to prove myself. Till date I have kept that phone number for HP support in my record. I have shared the number with some friends and they are satisfied with the remote support service too.
